Creating Character for Story Workshop
As we explore the big idea everyone has a unique story to share, we have been exploring elements of story. Students first planned and created characters for their stories during Story Workshop using different materials. They then created character profiles for their characters to tell us more about their characters personality traits, physical appearance, their name, and what makes them unique!
Wet Felting Story Mats
We have been exploring different tools and materials and developing our skills and adding new skills through play. Below, Vikhya creates a wet felted story mat to use during Story Workshop.
Grade 1 – Spooky Shape Art
As a class we have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes. We have been focusing on composing and decomposing shapes – putting shapes together and taking the apart. Through building and moving shapes around, we have been exploring the different qualities and characteristics of shapes.
Below, you will find Vikhya’s Spooky Shape Art, where we applied what we have been learning about shapes to create and describe our art creation!
After creating our art, we recorded how many of each shape we used in our ten frames.
Ask me to tell you more about the shapes that live in my creation!
Grade 1- Sharing our Curiosities – What do you wonder?
Students have shared their wonders on our Wonder Wall. This helps us to learn about each other’s interests as well as supports us in creating a community of wonder and curiosity! We will continue to add to and change our wonders as we explore, learn, and build our understandings throughout the school year.
